Welcome to Bea & Sarah Write Romance!
One trope, one twist, two stories.
What happens when you choose your story elements at random? Magic. (Also, chaos. But that’s the fun of it.)
A unique take on writing romance short stories.
How we write
Here at Bea & Sarah Write Romance, we’re all about keeping things interesting (and a little chaotic). How do we do that, you ask? By writing short stories where we choose our story length, trope and a twist AT RANDOM.
For each new story, we draw our story elements out of a hat (or jar, or basket), then spend the next two months trying to figure out how to make them work. The first month is spent drafting, and the second spent critiquing each others’ work and fine tuning the stories. Then, once they’re all polished up, we send them to you!

Two very different stories
So if we’re both using the same length, trope, and twist to write our stories, aren’t they going to be similar, you ask?
No! (And thanks for asking such great questions.)
Not only do we each have our own ideas, voices, and styles, but we also each write in a different subgenre. Bea writes historical romances (corsets and decorum please!), while Sarah’s love is for contemporary (yay for unhinged heroines and alcohol infused texts). That means that you’ll get two very different stories from us.
One thing we can promise though? A happily ever after!
Come along on the adventure

About us

Sarah Ritchie (left) is a Colorado native but followed her heart north of the border and has been living there, with her two feral kids and equally feral husband ever since. When she’s not writing, you’ll find her reading like it’s a competitive sport, untangling yet another knit or crochet project she swore would be fun, or torturing herself by running long distances. She loves hot drinks, long chats, being in nature, and all things cozy.
Bea Scott (right) has a master’s degree in Technical Art History from the University of Glasgow in Scotland, where she discovered a love for Glencoe, Six Nations Rugby, and tattie scone rolls. She now lives back home in Ottawa, Canada with her husband, two daughters, and geriatric cat. When she isn’t writing, she can be found reading, gardening, sewing, or adding to her pile of unfinished craft projects.
